Bartlesville’s Kenadie Meade
Student-athletes push themselves to their limits and beyond when training and preparing for competition. Finding balance between athletics, school, and life can be difficult. For Bartlesville varsity cheerleader Kenadie Meade, that balance involves cheer, school, and her activities outside of the classroom.
“Being a varsity cheerleader is a lot more than people realize We have practice Monday through Friday from 7am to 8:30am along with conditioning at the end of practice. We are currently in comp session right now. We now have an additional practice every Sunday from 1-4pm to get ready for regionals. On top of that we have scheduled tumbling classes once a week after school,” Meade said. “Outside of school I help out a lot in the community with things such as volunteering with the Sheriff’s office, Special Olympics, Youth cheer, and Cosmetology.”
The decision to get into cheer was an easy one for Meade. It’s a sport she loves and being around her teammates is something she cherishes.
“I decided to cheer because I wanted to be a part of a sport I loved, and I wanted to be super involved in the school and community. During my years on the cheer team the things I have loved the most is getting to meet new people and being involved with our community,” Meade said. “I would definitely say I love their teamwork and dedication towards the team.”
“ ”Meade is a main base for the team, a job with a lot of responsibility. Meade said she has enjoyed getting to know all of her teammates and former teammates over the years.
“My favorite memory as a varsity cheerleader would be cheer camp my sophomore year,” Meade said. “I would say I look up to Kaitlyn because she’s just so amazing at everything she does.”
Once her high school days come to an end, Meade said she plans to cheer in college and eventually open her own hair salon. Meade said her family and her coaches are major influences in her life.
“The people who have been the biggest influence in my life would definitely be my mom and dad as well as my cheer coaches Kristen and Hayden. All of these people always push me to be a better person and hold me accountable for everything,” said Meade.
When she has the opportunity to relax, Meade said she enjoys doing hair, and hanging out with friend and family.
