OUTLOOK
As Jake Christenson tips off his first season at Bartlesville High School, looking forward and preparing for the long season is the focus.
“With this being my first year it’s hard to compare where we are at compared to last year. But I really like this team. Great kids that put in the work every day. We really shoot the ball well as a team. We aren’t blessed with a ton of size, but I believe we can pressure the ball, play to our strengths, and surprise some people. Heavy on sophomores and seniors. The seniors haven’t had a ton of success, but they are hungry and good leaders. Sophomore group got a lot of experience as freshman,” coach Christenson said.
Players like Dennis Duncan (5-10, Sr.) and Trae Collins (5-9, Sr.) are key players who will help set the tone for the Bruins. Duncan averaged 6.0 points and 3.0 rebounds last season while Collins averaged 6.0 points and 2.0 rebounds. Duncan is expected to play point guard while Collins will play the shooting guard spot. Hunter Holmes (6-1, So.) is a small forward with a tremendous upside. Holmes added 3.0 points and 2.0 rebounds in a limited role as a freshman last season.
Hudson Eads (5-11, Sr.) and Titus Huck (6-1, Sr.) are two seniors looking to finish their careers with a solid senior season. Huck will play center with Eads playing guard. Brycen Gutierrez (6-0, So.) and Sutton Huff (6-3, So.) figure into the overall scheme this season. Huff returns from an injury last season and will play small forward this year.
The inspirational player everyone loves to see on the court is Skyler Carter (6-0, Sr.). Carter makes his return after a battle with cancer and is poised for his best season to date.
Other players to watch include Bryce Lee (5-10, Sr.), Luke Massey (6-1, So.), Jaden Turner (5-9, So.), Kim Marie (5-10, So.), Jordan Turner (6-3, So.), Cameron Edwards (5-7, Sr.), Zach Gilliam (5-11, Jr.), and Tylan Berry (6-1, So.).
