2025 Caney Valley Trojans Football Preview

CANEY VALLEY TROJANS

Coach: DERRICK HAMMER

1-9

OFFENSE

It’s a new era at Caney Valley High School as Derrick Hammer takes over the football program. Hammer’s coaching staff will consist of Kaleb Burns, Zak Wallis and Ryan Malone. “Focused on building a new standard. Laying a foundation, establishing a new culture. We’ll be young early on in this new building phase. We’ll be excited to compete and grow,” said coach Hammer. The Trojans do return four starters on offense including Cayton Wiedbrauk (5-11, 165, Sr.) at running back. As coach Hammer looks to establish a consistent run game, Wiedbrauk will play a key role in making the offense go. Bryor Bonde (6-1, 190, Jr.) is another player to look for at running back. Bonde is a big back who is tough to bring down. A pair of speedy receivers will solidify the passing game as Trevor Morgan (5-10, 155, Sr.) and Caidyn Kyler (5-8, 160, Sr.) look to make explosive plays through the air.

DEFENSE

Coach Hammer will utilize several starters on both sides of the ball. The secondary will be the strength for the Trojans once the season kicks off. Wiedbrauk will start at safety where is speed will play an important role alongside Kyler who also starts at safety. Morgan will occupy one of the corner positions giving the Trojans someone who can make plays on the edge. Bonde will play defensive end allowing his speed and length to come into play. Questions at linebacker were an issue entering spring ball, but the Trojans are addressing those issues. Look for a 4-2-5 defense this season as coach Hammer wants a fundamentally sound unit on the field. “We will have the ability to be flexible to best attack the offense. Put players in the best position to play fast and physical. Emphasize the fundamentals of each position, tackling, and creating turnovers,” said coach Hammer.
