COPAN HORNETS

Coach: TRENTON KALLENBERGER

8-3

OFFENSE

In his sixth season at Copan, his first as head coach, Trenton Kallenberger said he is excited about this group of players he has returning to the lineup. “I’m excited about this group. This senior group has been the catalyst of the programs turn-around. All four seniors, have started all 32 games since freshmen year. Paired with a strong junior class that loves to compete, our underclassmen are coming into a new set of expectations for Copan Football, and I couldn’t be more proud of the work this group of kids puts in to the program,” said coach Kallenberger. Dual purpose player Teegan Caron (5-11, 195, Sr.) is back after rushing for more than 1,000 yards and 17 TDs. Weston O’Rourke (5-9, 170, Sr.) joins Caron in the backfield where he rushed for 676 yards and 18 TDs. Zane Stricklin (5-8, 150, Jr.) can play QB or WR. If he starts at quarterback, it will be his first year as a starter at that position. Bryson Kalivoda (6-2, 220, Sr.) is a four-year starter at left guard and Marcus Bryan (6-0, 240, So.) is a first-year starter at right guard. Shooter Brewington (5-10, 170, Sr.) starts at tight end and fullback and was the leading receiver for Copan last season.

DEFENSE

Seven starters are back on defense including several players who will play both ways. Brewington and Caron will start at linebacker. Brewington made 121 solo tackles last season while Caron made 84 solo tackles. The pair will cause a lot of problems for opposing offenses. Stricklin starts at safety where he made six interceptions as a sophomore. A pair of defensive ends in Keeghan Smith (5-11, 200, Jr.) and Ashton Jeffers (6-0, 190, Jr.) have the speed and range to get to the quarterback. Elijah Evans (5-8, 165, Jr.) locks up one of the corner spots in the secondary. “We look to be very physical up front and with the team athleticism we want to fly to the football with great team tackling effort,” said coach Kallenberger. Also look for Slayton Brewington (Fr.) who can help the team at center on offense and linebacker on defense.
