2025 Dewey Lady Bulldoggers Softball Preview – Presented by Matt Spence – State Farm Insurance

Dewey softball coach Riley Allen has taken over the program after spending four seasons with the team. Now at the helm, coach Allen is looking forward to a season that will feature one of the top pitchers in the state and a roster that returns a large number of starters.

“We return eight starters from the previous year including our pitcher. As long as we stay focused, we should be one of the better teams in the area,” said coach Allen.

That pitcher is Kyla Overton. Overton has been a force since she arrived on the scene her freshman season. Coach Allen believes her arm and ability to own the plate will help this team go far this season.

“She is coming off a dominate year in the circle and at the plate. A double-digit homerun hitter with a mid to high 60s fastball in the circle,” said coach Allen.

While Overton’s arm and bat are sure to light things up this season, you also need a steady force defensively and Dewey has that in Londyn Bond. Now a junior, Bond has experience and third base where she has shown she has the talent to play the position at the next level.

“Londyn Bond is a girl who people know, but I still believe she is under appreciated. A double-digit homerun hitter as a sophomore last year, she is someone who will do big things at the next level.

Other defensive standouts are catcher Chanley Herron (Sr.) and shortstop Jaelynn Smith (Sr.). The two seniors are crucial pieces of the puzzle for Dewey this season. The outfield features Kenzie Hedges (Jr.), Kaydence Lavasseur (So.) and Addi Jones (Sr.).

After a season ending injury last year, Macie Dugger (So.) is making her way back to the field where she hopes to add to the success of the team by being a great leadoff hitter and playing in the middle of the infield defensively.

The first home game is set for August 11th against Skiatook.
