Bartlesville Mom of the Month – Erin Jones
By Elizabeth Contreras
The unique role parents play in supporting athletes is a balancing act of pride, nerves, and devotion, and for Bartlesville basketball mom Erin Jones, it’s been nothing short of a journey of growth, connection, and unwavering support. Jones is recognized for the positive impact she continues to have on the team, both as a mother and as a quiet force of encouragement on the sidelines.

“As parents, we play a crucial role in shaping our athlete’s experience by laying a strong foundation that’s built on encouragement, confidence, and reassurance,” she said.
Her purpose, she explained, is to instill teamwork, humility, and discipline, all qualities that not only enhance athletic performance but contribute to long-term personal and professional success.
During game days, the atmosphere is a whirlwind of energy and emotions, varying depending on the competition. Against challenging teams, Jones focuses on helping her daughter stay mentally strong, while against less competitive teams, she reminds her not to become overconfident.
“It’s important for her to experience the full range of game-day emotions,” she continued, “but as a mom, I want to help her stay grounded, honest, and humble.”
Her dedicated support, however, is not limited to her own daughter.
“I believe that supporting the entire team, not just one player is key to the team’s overall success,” Jones said. “Each girl brings something unique to the table, and when they all thrive, the team thrives.”
Jones has become a steady and uplifting presence, cheering for every player and contributing wherever she is needed. Her mission is to make every player feel valued, seen, and supported, whether that’s cheering for the girls, donating snacks, or lending a helping hand behind the scenes. Her stout belief that the team’s success is a collective effort directly contributes to the confidence of every athlete. Jones helps to foster a culture of togetherness, an attribute that has pushed the team toward success.
“They all need encouragement to stay motivated through both wins and losses,” she noted.
The values she has relentlessly poured into the girls is something Jones hopes will stay with each and every one of them.
“Whether it’s on the court or in life, challenges are inevitable but having the resilience to push through and the discipline to stay focused and committed is what leads to long-term success,” she said.
Most of all, Jones said that she is grateful to have played such a key role in her daughter’s athletic journey, and the unshakeable bond it has helped to nurture.

“When I look back one day, I know I’ll treasure the journey, watching my daughter grow from the little blonde b-bopper who galloped down the court with her tongue out, to the fierce and confident basketball player she is today,” she reflected. “I’m her biggest fan, and basketball has been a huge part of what keeps us close.”
