Bartlesville’s Austin Bastings

Playing in his final season of prep soccer, Bartlesville High School’s Austin Bastings is enjoying every moment on the field and in the classroom.

Bastings started playing the sport of soccer when he was only four years old. Today Bastings not only plays for the varsity team at BHS, but he’s a member of a club team as well.

“I play club soccer with NEOFC and will be playing with the Bartlesville Buffaloes this summer,” said Bastings.

Every player is looking to get an edge, which is why Bastings continues to work on his skills and improve in areas that will make him a great player.

“My strength would be speed and ball control, my area of improvement this year would be shooting,” said Bastings.

As a Bruin, Bastings said there are many things he loves about his team and his school.

“There is a lot of hidden talent here in Bartlesville,” Bastings said. “My teammates work extremely hard all the time.”

That work ethic has paid off in a big way. Next year Bastings plans to take his talents to the next level and with the support of his family, he is excited to see what the future holds.

“My biggest accomplishment is being recruited to play college soccer next year. The goal is to play college soccer for as long as I can and graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering,” Bastings said. “The support means everything to me. I would not be the player I am today without my parents and my coaches. My Father is my source of inspiration, he always works hard on everything he does and never procrastinates.”

Bastings said his biggest challenge is time management but staying focused on the game is how he mentally prepares for competition. “I make sure everything is done with school or other things to help me focus 100 percent on the game,” said Bastings.
