Emry Brown played every sport she could growing up. Once her parents signed her up for volleyball it was instant love. Now a senior at Bartlesville High School, Emry is an outside hitter on her team.

“Volleyball has taught me that hard work goes a long way,” she says.

The memories and friendships made with teammates and coaches will always be with her. This she says, is her favorite part of being on a team. “I am passionate about volleyball because it has brought me so many people who will be part of my life forever and I always want to make them proud and continue proving myself.”

Emry enjoys the support she and her team receive at BHS. “Everyone coming to the games to support us is always a lot of fun with our student section,” she says.

The best advice came from her high school coach last season. “She has known me since I was in middle school. She always told me I could do whatever I wanted if I just put my mind to it,” said Emry.

Her time playing club ball has also left a big impression. “Mallory Sommer was my libero for club season, and she is one of my best friends. She has put up with a lot and I love her for that! She is also an amazing player! I am also forever grateful to my club coach Justin. He taught me a lot and got our team farther than anyone thought we could.”

Her best memory playing volleyball is winning second place at AAU Nationals this summer. “It was so much fun with my team, and we played the best we had all season!” she exclaimed.

When asked if she has a favorite professional volleyball player Emry exclaimed, “I love Micah Hancock! She played high school volleyball in Oklahoma, and in my opinion, is now the best setter in women’s volleyball. She played in the Paris Olympics this summer and she is absolutely amazing!”
