Bartlesville’s Katen Bottorff
Preparing for the upcoming season, Katen Bottorff, a senior at Bartlesville High School, has bounced back from injuries and challenges only to appear stronger than ever and ready for her final season of prep soccer.
“I have been playing soccer for 12 years, I played club up until last year when I decided to quit over reoccurring injuries and burnout. I currently play center defense,” Katen said. “I find strength and confidence in consistency, having a consistent and unfaltering mindset on and off the field is key for me to be at my best. I have improved my mindset towards soccer, and I believe it will keep me strong throughout this season.”
Being a senior on the team, Katen said she has enjoyed seeing her teammates grow and continue to work hard to become great players.
“ ”“I am very impressed with Leighton Sigler this season, I played with her sister Eva on the high school team for three years and she always stood out to me for her hard work and raw skill on the field. I see that and more in her sister Leighton, she has that skill and effort that her sister has but she takes it in a totally different direction. I am very excited to see just how much more she improves this season,” said Katen.
Everyone has their own way of preparing for competition. Katen said she has her own process before she takes the field.
“I mentally prepare for a game with music, it has always had a place in my heart but some loud music and some earbuds while I’m getting ready for a game always puts me in a focused mood,” said Katen.
Katen is made plans for life after high school. “My goal for after high school is going to get a degree at OSU and play on an intramural team on campus,” said Katen.
