Bartlesville’s Kennedy Nubel – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Union State Bank

Bartlesville’s Kennedy Nubel

There is a lot that can be said about Bartlesville’s Kennedy Nubel. Now a senior, Nubel has played the game of basketball since she was in the second grade. A forward/center for coach Justyn Shaw, Nubel has made a big impact on the team after transferring to BHS last season.

“She started all 25 games in the 2023-2024 season averaging 4.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks and shot better than 43 percent from 3-point range. Kennedy does the little things that help us be successful. Whether it’s the extra pass on offense or taking a charge on defense. Kennedy led the Bruins last year in charges taken with more than 15. She’s a team player who displays integrity and humility on and off the court,” said Shaw.

This season Nubel has continued to work on her game to help the Lady Bruins find success on the court.

“I would say the strength of my game is trying to hustle even when I don’t feel like it. This season I believe my confidence has improved quite a bit,” Nubel said. “How I mentally prepare myself for competition is by thinking of goals I want to accomplish each game and repeating them to coach Antonio.”

Nubel said she loves her teammates, and they are always impressing her on and off the court.

“What makes BHS a great place for me is the environment of my team, and the support that has be provided to me in school and on the court. I have been impressed with all of my teammates and their hard work and dedication in the off season this year,” Nubel said. “Our entire team never has a dull moment, we always find a way to make each other laugh, but someone specifically would be Cadence Gray. What I love most about my teammates is their reliability, we all are here for each other, and all support one another.”

Also a golf player, Nubel said she is making plans for life after high school. “My goal for after high school is going to college and seeing what happens next,” said Nubel.
