OKLAHOMA UNION COUGARS
BOYS
Coach: Riley Duncan
23-24 Record: 6-20
OUTLOOK
Towards the end of last season, the Cougars were starting to get some things figured out. Head coach Riley Duncan said the team returns experienced players who are ready to compete.
“After a season with little to no experience returning, we now have almost everybody back. We ended the year 6-8 after an 0-12 start so we are hoping to build on that momentum and have a great year. Lots of leadership returning with seven returning seniors and an additional senior coming into our program and we have a lot of eager younger guys ready to take the next step for a very deep team in 24-25,” said Duncan.
Top 100 selectee Connor Pierce (6-2, Sr.) starts at forward and returns as the leading scorer averaging 11 point per game. Pierce also averages 6.0 rebounds per contest.
“Connor is one of our best defensively. I’m looking forward to seeing his growth in year two as a starter. He also is our starting quarterback and a starter on our baseball team all while being in the running for valedictorian and having one of the better ACT scores in his class. He is an unbelievable all-around kid that will be successful in anything he chooses to do because of his work ethic and determination,” said Duncan.
“ ”Pierce is not the only player to watch for the Cougars. Jensen Anderson (6-3, Jr.) is expected to make a big impact this season thanks to some improved shooting and a growth spurt over the summer. Anderson plays hard on both ends of the court. Also look for Kane Nash (5-10, So.) at guard. After seeing some minutes last year as a freshman, Nash could be one of the top shooters for the Cougars this season.
Senior Grant Reeves (5-9) is a vocal leader and someone willing to take the hard hits and go after loose balls. His intensity helps set the tone for the team.
Other players to watch include Jake Harris (5-9, Sr.), Brandon Kuehn (5-10, Jr.), Sam Hill (6-0, Jr.), Jimmy Williams (5-8, Jr.), Deakyn Hendrix (6-0, Sr.), Colten Wickham (6-3, Jr.), Nathan Dean (6-2, Sr.), Bodee West (5-9, Sr.), Hayden Rogers (6-1, Jr.), Jaxon Baker (6-5, Sr.), and Kaden Miller (5-9, Sr.).
