VYPE: What do you enjoy most about tennis?
Abby Shelley: Working alongside dedicated players who help push me to become a better and stronger player.
VYPE: What life skills have you learned playing tennis?
AS: How to mentally handle tough situations and have a stronger work ethic.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
AS: The positivity and support my teammates have brought to my sport and life and the lifelong friendships I have built with my teammates.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
AS: My older sister, Maddie Shelley. Maddie has dedicated her life to tennis and because of her dedication, she now plays at Washburn University. However, during her high school season, she was out with an injury for nine months. After fully recovering, she worked hard to get her skill back and go on to do bigger and better things.

VYPE: What teammate left the biggest impression on you and why?
AS: Claire Auschwitz. She has worked hard to improve her game in the short time she has been playing. She has been the most improved player because she dedicated her time to tennis.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing BHS as an athlete?
AS: Being part of a program that strives for excellence. I take great pride in representing the Bartlesville Bruins.
VYPE: Tell us about your most memorable vacation.
AS: Angel Fire, New Mexico. I spent a week with my extended family doing fun activities. I loved making memories and spending quality time with my family.
VYPE: What is the best advice anyone has given you?
AS: “I should never be able to tell if you’re winning or losing the match” – Pat Ritchie. He has taught me that attitude is the best thing to control in a match, whether you’re winning or losing.
