Q&A with Nowata’s Talon Thompson
VYPE: How long have you played basketball, and what is your position?
Talon Thompson: I’ve played basketball for as long as I can remember, my earliest memory would be when I was five in Boys & Girls Club ball. My position right now is power forward.
VYPE: What first got you interested in the sport?
TT: Growing up watching sports with my dad is what got me first interested.
VYPE: Do you have a favorite memory in your time playing for Nowata?
TT: Not specifically, I just love playing the game and take pride in my team and playing for Nowata.
VYPE: Do you have a favorite team to play against? If so, why?
“ ”TT: There’s no specific team I favor over the other, they all bring their own challenges and ways for me to grow as a player.
VYPE: Let’s talk about your teammates. Which player on your team would you not want to go up against? Who is the fastest? The loudest? Who keeps everyone laughing?
TT: The player on my team I would not want to go against would be Clint Harrington, he brings strength and physicality at all times and always makes it difficult. The fastest would be Chelo Prince, while the loudest being Jackson Hurd shows the team support and energy with no doubts. I’d say Brett Malone is the funniest and keeps everyone laughing, he brings a lightheartedness to the locker room and overall enjoyable to be around.
VYPE: What is your go to post-game meal?
TT: My post-game meal would honestly be anything that I can get to when I get home.
VYPE: What are your plans after high school?
TT: My plan after high school would be to attend college and further my basketball career and grow as a player.
VYPE: Who do you look to as a role model and why?
TT: My dad is my role model because he’s always supported me through all my endeavors and allows me to grow with his guidance and encouragement.
