Playing baseball has taught Kanin Romesburg discipline and how to handle success and failure. Remembering one piece of valuable advice pushes Kanin through the highs and lows of games. “Don’t ever give up!” he exclaims.

Kanin is a sophomore at Bartlesville High School who has always had a passion for playing baseball. “I picked up a bat and ball as soon as I could walk. Ever since the day my dad gave me my first baseball, it’s been a part of my life.

“My dad and older brothers, Kaden Romesburg and Damien Nik, inspire me the most. Watching them and learning from them means the most to me. My brothers have had the greatest impact on me. As seniors this year, they’ve been role models that I have looked up to,” says Kanin.

Baseball is a team sport. Kanin likes that every player on the field is needed to get the job done, no matter the position. Kanin is a utility player accustomed to versatility and playing the position where he is needed most for each game.

His favorite part of his team is the bond they all have with one another. Kanin looks up to the upperclassmen. “I’d like to thank the older guys who lead the team and show me how to be a leader.”

Kanin proudly carries the responsibility of being a student-athlete for BHS. “The best part is definitely the sense of community and pride you feel when you’re out there representing your school,” he says.

Playing baseball in Alabama over spring break doubles as his favorite baseball memory and the most memorable vacation he has gone on. “The varsity squad went to Alabama and played ball. Then we stayed a few days after the games. Our friends came down and we had a blast.”

In the classroom, his favorite teacher is Mrs. Harper. “She always welcomes me into her class. I can always go to her and ask her for help on my work or if I have a question she’s always there,” he said.

Kanin’s love for the outdoors goes beyond the baseball diamond. When not playing baseball Kanin can be found hunting and fishing. He has a few years left until he finishes high school, but his plans currently include playing college ball somewhere.
