OFFENSE
The Colcord Hornets are gearing up for an exciting season, boasting a wealth of experience and talent. “We are an experienced team with a large senior class who have a combined record of 32-6 over the last three years, as well as back-to-back district championships the last two years,” head coach Ryan Keenom remarked. Leading the charge on offense will be senior quarterback Jackson Still (6-0, 180, Sr.), who recorded over 1,000 total yards last season as a wide receiver and running back. “We want to get the ball in multiple playmakers’ hands so that the defense can’t key on just one guy,” Keenom explained. Senior offensive lineman Khaleeal Penn (6-2, 320, Sr.) anchors the line with an 88 percent grade, providing stability and protection. Other key offensive contributors include Cooper Mott (6-3, 220, Sr.), Cade Linn (6-0, 210, Sr.), Manuel Bocanegra (6-0, 170, Sr.), and Malachi January (5-11, 175, Sr.). With seven returning starters, the Hornets’ offense is poised to light up the scoreboard.
DEFENSE
On the defensive side of the ball, the Hornets will operate from a 3-4 formation, aiming to be multiple in their looks and aggressive in their approach. “We will be aggressive and use our team speed to swarm the football,” Keenom emphasized. Senior defensive lineman Khaleeal Penn leads the charge with over 30 career tackles for loss, while linebackers Cade Linn (6-0, 210, Sr.) and Cooper Mott bring experience and tenacity to the front seven. In the secondary, senior safety Malachi January is a three-year starter, providing stability and leadership. With seven returning starters, the Hornets’ defense is primed to stifle opposing offenses and set the tone for success.
