Bradee Rutherford
Jay High School

Bradee Rutherford is a stellar three-sport athlete at Jay High School.
“Bradee is back with the football program having played only basketball and baseball the past two years. Bradee is one of the best athletes in Northeastern Oklahoma,” Jay head coach Eddie Barnwell said. “He can play several different positions on both offense and defense. Bradee is only a junior.”
Rutherford also plans to join Science Club and is active in Fellowship of Christian Students.
“My faith is very important to me,” Rutherford said. “Everything will eventually come to an end besides faith.”
Rutherford considers basketball his favorite sport, “but basketball and football aren’t far behind.” He earned an All-Conference selection as only a junior. But he sees his future in baseball.
“I’d like to pitch in college,” Rutherford said. “Just this summer, I realized that’s what I wanted to do. . . My biggest goal would be to touch 90 on the mound.”
Rutherford, who has lived his entire life in Jay, thanks his parents for their support and genes.
“I’d give a big thanks to my parents for always being supportive and awesome. My dad played football, baseball and wrestled and my mom played basketball,” Rutherford said. “They started me off in sports for as long as I remembered and always supported any decision I wanted to make.”
Rutherford considers himself close with his classmates.
“[Jay] is pretty small, so things can get boring, but the community is very good,” Rutherford said. “My class has stuck together for my whole life, and we have always been pretty solid as a group.”
Rutherford’s goals for this year are to stay ahead in his classes and maintain As and Bs on his report cards.
