Jay’s Trevor Taylor

Jay High School junior Trevor Taylor is a football and basketball player for the Bulldogs and someone the Bulldog faithful love to watch compete.

Taylor started playing sports when he entered the third grade. Now, Taylor has racked up several awards this year including numerous football awards.

“Being nominated to play in the Native game in Texas. My position as a kicker and punter were not used in the games this year. Although, the native games Director said that doesn’t mean they won’t next year. So, I am a hopeful my senior year I will get the opportunity again,” said Taylor.

Playing with his best friend Trenton Brice in the playoffs, who was a senior this year, was a highlight as well. Competing against teams like Lincoln Christian marked another highlight.

“The outcome wasn’t what we wanted, but how we left it on the field is what mattered,” Taylor said. “And playing in the Delaware County Bowl against our rivalry Grove Ridgerunners.”

As a student-athlete Taylor brings a solid set of skills to the field and the court. His passion for competing is obvious when you see Taylor play.

“Playing left and right guard is one of my strong points due to my capabilities of blocking for my teammates,” Taylor said. “Football has always been my ultimate sport above any other sport. Because it’s such a physical game that keeps your adrenaline running! The excitement of running out of the tunnel with all my teammates especially on Military Night when we all carry the Red, White and Blue. It’s such an honor to be able to live and go to school and play sports at no cost as an American and Pink Out Night honoring everyone who has battled cancer in one way or the other.”

Taylor said he loves his teammates and loves competing with them on the field.

“They’re always there to help me and encourage me especially if I’m having an off night. They’re always there to lift you up and not let you give up. They don’t let you walk alone; we all walk through the high and lows together building each other up and never letting anyone get discouraged,” said Taylor.

Plans for life after high school are well underway, but before Taylor leaves the friendly hallways of JHS, the soon to be senior is looking forward to one more season as a Bulldog.

“I plan to attend college and major in business and continue my football career as a bonus! I am currently attending Kansas Northeast Vo-Tech enrolled in welding and one day I would like to have my own welding business,” said Taylor.
