Pryor Boys Track
As the temperatures climb, the times on the track are dropping for the Pryor Tigers. Head coach Jamie Nofsinger is excited at the development of the program this season and several athletes are showing the hard work does pay off.
“The 2025 Pryor boys track team is young but have had several athletes stand out this season. Our 4X100 relay is the fastest it’s been in many years and missed the school record by a second at our home meet, the Mike Adair Invitational on March 31st. Our sprint corps this year is young but fast, with five boys well under the 12 mark for the 100-meter dash. Among them is freshman Gage LeFrere with an 11.38,” said coach Nofsinger.

That 4X100 relay team consisted of Zakieus Hopkins (So.), Zach Parker (So.), Connor Shockome (So.), and Gage LeFrere (Fr.).
During the Tahlequah Tiger Classic, several long-distance runners made their presence felt.
Josiah Long placed 3rd in the 3200-meters with a time of 10:31.28. John Burns (So.) placed 9th in the same event. Burns and Zeighn Kirby (Sr.) competed in the 800-meters with Kirby cracking the top 20 out of nearly 50 competitors.
“ ”Rhett Taylor (Jr.) grabbed a 10th place finish in the 400-meters, besting 26 other runners. Taylor won his heat to advance to the finals.
The field events are solid as well. Coach Nofsinger said the athletes are performing at a consistent level.
“Our long jumpers have also fared well with two boys over 20-feet. Freshman Pablo Robles had been undefeated in freshman meets, and sophomore Jackson Parks is jumping 21-feet consistently,” Coach Nofsinger said. “Our distance runners have been performing well with four guys under five minutes for the mile, led by Owen Nofsinger (Jr.), and Long in the 2-mile with the No. 6 time in boys 5A.”
Nofsinger posted a 6th place finish at Tahlequah in the 1600-meters, less than one second out of fifth place. Dayton Hunter (Jr.) placed in the top 20 for the same event.
Da’reon Bekka (Fr.), another exciting freshman, placed fourth at the Mike Adair Invitational in the 110-meter hurdles. Bekka, Eric Porter (Jr.) and Zaylin Hopkins (Fr.) are the go-to guys for hurdles.
