Pryor’s Addie Rice
When the Lady Tigers of Pryor High School take the field this spring, sophomore Addie Rice will play center back/mid-field for the varsity soccer team. It’s a sports Rice has played since the age of six.
“I would say my strength of the game is my mental awareness and view of the field while I play. This season I’ve improved on learning new positions and becoming more diverse on the field,” said Rice.
Rice and her teammates are looking forward to another outstanding season on the field. Rice said the Lady Tigers known how to have fun and how to focus when it’s time to prepare for a match.
“I love that our team is so driven and hard working. Everyone is always lifting each other up,” Rice said. “I think the former seniors from last season left a big impact on me. They were already committed to playing at the next level which pushed me as an individual to be my best.”
During her short time at PHS, Rice said she has made some great memories and is looking forward to making many more.
“ ”“My favorite moment as a player for Pryor was having the opportunity to play in a state championship game and scoring in that game as a freshman,” Rice said. “PHS is a great place for me to be a student athlete because of the unique size which gives me more relationships with the coaching staff. We also have amazing facilities now and getting built in the future.”
Before every match, Rice has a routine she follows to help prepare her for competition.
“Before we play a game, I try to clear my mind from all distractions by listening to music or praying. Then during warm-ups, I focus in on what I need to do so that I can help my team,” said Rice.
Also a member of the varsity pom squad, Rice said he enjoys all of her teammates and classmates at PHS. A few on the soccer team do stand out.
“Delanie Sherrer keeps us laughing throughout the season. Addison Harlow is always serious and ready to work,” said Rice.
As for life after high school, Rice plans to continue her education in college.
“My goal for life after high school is furthering my education at the college level and getting a successful job,” said Rice.
