Pryor’s Jackson Parks
Pryor High School senior Jackson Parks is more than just a varsity football player — he is a driven athlete shaped by discipline, family values and a deep love for the game.
Parks, who will enter his senior year this fall, plays primarily at wide receiver while also expanding his role at tight end. His approach to football reflects a mindset grounded in accountability and attention to detail.
“The hardest part is making sure you’re doing your job every play,” Parks said. “Whether it’s running routes, getting open, blocking or reading the defense, every detail matters.”
That focus has helped him grow into a key contributor for Pryor, but Parks said his biggest motivation comes from someone off the field, his mother.
“My mom inspires me the most,” he said. “She works hard every day and always puts our family first. She’s always supported me in everything I do and has taught me the importance of discipline, accountability and never giving up on your goals.”
That same discipline carries over into the classroom, where Parks has developed a strong interest in anatomy and physiology. He said the subject connects directly to his development as an athlete.
“It’s really interesting learning how the body works and how things like training, recovery, nutrition and movement can help me become a better athlete,” he said.
Parks’ dedication has already produced memorable moments on the field. One stands out above the rest a touchdown during the opening drive of Pryor’s first game in its new stadium against Sallisaw.
“I caught a screen pass and somehow ended up running through what felt like their entire defense for a touchdown,” Parks said. “The crowd went crazy and it was an awesome way to open up the new stadium.”
While individual highlights are special, Parks said the relationships built through football mean even more.
“The brotherhood,” he said when asked what he enjoys most about being part of the team. “You spend so much time together that your teammates become family.”
That sense of unity fuels Pryor’s competitive edge. Parks described a team culture where players push each other daily while offering constant support.
“We compete with each other every day, but we also support each other,” he said. “Everybody wants to see each other succeed.”
Off the field, Parks enjoys spending time working out, being outdoors and hanging out with friends, family and his girlfriend. Still, football remains central to his routine, including his pregame preparation.
“I listen to music, pray and visualize making plays before kickoff,” he said.
Through athletics, Parks said he has learned lessons that will extend far beyond high school.
“Athletics has taught me discipline, accountability and how to handle adversity,” he said. “Things aren’t always going to go your way, and sports teach you how to keep working through challenges.”
As he enters his final high school season, Parks continues to build on those lessons both as a player and as a leader for Pryor.
