Bringing back their pitching staff and adding a talented crew of newcomers has Dewey Bulldoggers coach Niki Keck excited about the 2024 season. “The Lady Bulldoggers return both varsity pitchers from the 2023 season, while adding 10 freshmen,” Keck said. “With a core group of upperclassmen with a lot of experience returning, several underclassmen look to make an immediate impact to the lineup.” Kyla Overton (P/1B, Jr.) had a stellar sophomore year and is expected to be one of the area’s best pitchers. “Kyla was second on the team in average in 2023, hitting .454 with a .518 OBP. She had 16 doubles with three homeruns,” Keck said. “She went 14-5 in the circle with a 3.04 ERA and 134 Ks as a sophomore.”
Reagan White (P/1B, Sr.) would be most team’s best pitcher. “Reagan was a huge part of our success in 2023. She went 12-5 for us in the circle with a 2.81 ERA and 96 Ks,” Keck said. Macie Dugger (INF, Fr.) won’t have to wait long for playing time this season. Keck is eager for competition to see what Dugger can do. “Macie is an incoming freshman who will start in the middle infield,” Keck said. “She has a consistent bat and solid defensive skills.” Chanley Herren (UTL, Jr.) plays a crucial role for the team, not just with her talent, but with her leadership. “Chanley is not only a great athlete but also a great person. Her character and integrity are unmatched,” Keck said.
