2025 Bluejacket Chieftains – Football Preview – Presented by Grand Savings Bank

BLUEJACKET CHIEFTAINS

Coach: DOUG WINTERS

4-6

OFFENSE

As coach Doug Winters takes over the Bluejacket football program, the roster is loaded with underclassmen who are stepping into roles as starters and must mature quickly to face a competitive schedule. One player not new to the game is Clayton Moss (5-11, 140, Sr.) had 24 receptions for 600 yards and seven TDs. His production at wide receiver is crucial for the Chieftains. Colton Cochran (6-2, 165, So.) is a young gunslinger looking to get Moss involved in the spread offense. Running back Gavyn Nair (6-1, 205, Fr.) is new to the varsity game, but has shown some explosiveness with the ball. Riley Chandler (5-6, 130, So.) is another WR looking to stretch the field. Manny Pilkinton (5-10, 185, Sr.) can play multiple positions on the line including guard and tight end. Randy Torres (5-9, 220, So.) will handle the snapping duties at center.

DEFENSE

Coach Winters will employ the 3-3 defense giving guys like Trent Laue (5-9, 155, Jr.) at defensive end an opportunity to display his talents by pressuring opposing QBs and pursuing running backs. Bryson Shaffer (5-7, 140, So.) will help shore up the secondary and should help younger players grow into every-down starters for the defense. Kanin Stoner (5-9, 235, Fr.) and Aumi Tanner (6-1, 310, Jr.) will both see time at nose guard with Brent Chandler (5-10, 155, Fr.) playing opposite Laue at end. Also look for Kordell Beck (6-2, 185, Jr.) at tackle.
