2025 Wesleyan Christian Mustangs Football Preview

WESLEYAN CHRISTIAN MUSTANG

Coach: FABIAN QUIROZ

2-8

OFFENSE

With good experience and a desire to keep improving, the Wesleyan Mustangs and head coach Fabian Quiroz are looking forward to taking the field and competing. “We have a lot of upperclassmen that are returning and bring a lot of leadership and experience, we are also bringing a pretty big class of freshmen that are hungry to learn and prove themselves. It’s an exciting time at WCS,” said coach Quiroz. This marks his first season at the helm of the program. Question at quarterback still remain and finding someone to lead the offense is a top priority. “I come from an 11-man spread offense so I’m trying to do the same at the 8-man level. We like spreading the field and distributing the ball to all our skill guys,” said coach Quiroz. Roman Edwards (5-9, Sr.) will be the featured running back with Paxton Slief (Sr.) playing the H-back spot. A trio of wide receivers will give Baker plenty of targets downfield. That group includes Lennox Vieux (6-0, Sr.), Forrest Cook (Sr.), and Korbyn Krebbs (Jr.).

DEFENSE

Six starters are back on defense including several players who will go both ways for the Mustangs. “We run a 3-2 with Will-backer walked up. I know in 8-man, the D-Line can massively impact a game and single handedly take over for four quarters. Our walked up Will-backer will have to do a lot but if we can create pressure with four guys and cover on the back end we will have a successful season,” said coach Quiroz. Edwards will play one of the defensive end spots giving the defense a legit pass rusher. Freshman Josh Shambles is ready to take on the assignment of playing linebacker at the varsity level. Shambles has shown real promise in early practices. Moses Gujjarlapudi (So.) is the nose tackle in the 3-2 and someone the team is counting on for a big push upfront. Jaxon Stapleton (So.) is another underclassman who figures into the lineup at safety or linebacker.
