9Q’s with Grove’s Javen Buffington
VYPE: How long have you played basketball, and what is your position?
Javen Buffington: I have been playing basketball for about 12 years now as a center.
VYPE: What first got you interested in the sport?
JB: I had multiple members in my family play who encouraged me to play also.
VYPE: Do you have a favorite memory in your time playing for Commerce?
JB: My favorite memory was my first varsity game. I was filled with nerves and excitement.
VYPE: Do you have a favorite team to play against? If so, why?
JB: I like playing against Jay because I have played softball with many of their athletes.
“ ”VYPE: Let’s talk about your teammates. Which player on your team would you not want to go up against? Who is the fastest? The loudest? Who keeps everyone laughing?
JB: A teammate I would not like to go against would be Rowan Geer. The fastest on my team would have to be Allie Hasslemen. The loudest on my team is Chloe Smith. And the one that keeps everyone laughing would have to be Bri DeSilva.
VYPE: What song hypes you up before a game?
JB: My hype song for sure has to be, 6 Foot 7 Foot by Lil Wayne.
VYPE: What is your go to post-game meal?
JB: Go to post game meal is either sushi or chicken and rice.
VYPE: Who do you look to as a role model and why?
JB: My biggest role model for me is my mother, her drive and hard work is inspiring.
VYPE: What are your plans after high school?
JB: I plan to go to college and hopefully still compete in track and field.
