Vinita’s Lily Ramsey
VYPE: How long have you been in cheer?
Lily Ramsey: 2024-25 season was my fifth year cheering and I’m going into my sixth.
VYPE: What first got you interested in the sport?
LR: I did gymnastics my whole life and my gymnastics coach wanted me to try out my seventh grade year so I could be like my mom. My gym coach and my mom are my biggest supporters.
VYPE: What motivates you to be your best?
LR: What motivates me to be my best is to make my family proud. My little sisters and other little kids look up to me and talk to me when they see me in public.
VYPE: Do you have a favorite opponent to compete against? If so, why?
LR: Salina High School is my favorite to cheer with because they do out involvement chants with us and are all around very kind and fun.
VYPE: What do your teammates mean to you?
LR: My teammates mean a ton to me. Being in a bad mood is not an option around our team because they always make sure to make you laugh if you’re upset. There is never a dull moment around these girls.
VYPE: What song hypes you up before a game?
LR: I have an entire playlist of hype songs I listen to on the bus or while I’m getting ready for a game.
VYPE: What is your go to post-game meal?
LR: My go to post game meal is either Mexican or ice cream from Braum’s.
VYPE: Who do you look to as a role model and why?
LR: As a role model I look up to my mom who was a cheerleader her whole high school [career]. Another role model to me is Ava Hayes who is a senior on my team.
VYPE: What are your plans after high school?
LR: My plan after high school is to go to college somewhere close to home and get an associate’s degree and become an occupational therapy assistant and work in schools once I graduate college.
