Claremore’s Avery Hyde
When Claremore High School senior Avery Hyde steps onto the field this season she will be another step closer to completing her time as a prep softball player. A bittersweet moment for Hyde and her family, but she does have plans to continue her playing career close to home.
“After I graduate, I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Rogers State University. Go Hillcats,” said Hyde.
Hyde loves her team at CHS and her teammates. The relationships she has built will last a lifetime.
“What I love most about my team and teammates at Claremore is that we are a family. We hold each other to high standards so we can get jobs done. We have a saying called “Pull the plow” and it means to do everything together, a plow can’t be pulled by one person it takes many,” Hyde said. “My most vocal teammate is Claire Pilkington. Whether she’s calling for a ball or cheering someone on I always hear her in the outfield and in the dugout. It’s never the same teammate that keeps everyone laughing. My team is full of jokers, we are always cutting up about something.”
A source of inspiration comes from the people Hyde is closest with in life.
“The people that inspire me the most are my parents. They both know what they want, and they work for it. They’ve always told me I had to work for what I wanted because things aren’t just going to be handed to you. I am very grateful for both of them and how they have shaped me as a young athlete and woman,” said Hyde.
The catcher said her favorite subject in school is English and her favorite teacher is Mr. Noland or “Mr. Z.” Hyde is a member of FCA and NHS and when she has it, Hyde said she enjoys spending her free time with friends and family.
