Claremore’s Kellen Gaede
Hitting two homeruns in one game during his freshman season has been one of many highlights for Claremore High Schools Kellen Gaede. Claremore head coach Jonathan Gelnar called Gaede a player who, “loves to compete.”
“Kellen is a guy that represents being a Zebra no matter where he is or what he is doing. He is a “gamer” and loves to compete more than anyone but at the end of the day will show the most class,” said coach Gelnar.
Gaede started playing baseball when he was four years old. Today he is playing outfield and pitcher for the Zebras. Coming into the season Gaede, like his teammates, worked on getting better at the plate and his pitching. That hard work is paying off.
“The strength of my skill set would definitely be my pitching. I have been working on adding more pitches and being able to hit my spots,” said Gaede.
Rivalries are a big part of baseball and Gaede said he loves playing one team that always makes for a great game.
“I am looking forward to playing Collinsville because of how intense the game gets and it’s always fun playing them,” said Gaede.
The Zebras face Collinsville in late April and Gaede hopes the fans come out and support the baseball team.
“CHS is a great place for being a student-athlete because of the amazing teachers and the coaching staff we have,” Gaede said. “The support I have always gives me motivation to keep playing and to always keep my head up.”
Gaede said he finds inspiration in a Major League player with Oklahoma ties.
“Bruce Harper has always been an inspiration for me because of how he plays the game and how he always leaves it all on the field,” said Gaede.
Once his playing days come to an end at CHS, Gaede plans to attend college and possibly continue playing baseball. “The goal for life after playing in high school is the play at the next level.”
