Claremore’s Nolan Sherl – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Red Crown Credit Union

Claremore’s Nolan Sherl

If you like a basketball who does all the little things to help his team win and is not afraid to take the hits and bang in the paint, look no further than Claremore High School’s Nolan Sherl.

Claremore head coach Thomas Lynn Nolan said of Sherl, “Nolan, is our blue-collared hardest working guy in the gym. Nolan brings grit and toughness with him in everything he does. We can count on Nolan to defend our opponent’s best player night in and night out and count on his best efforts.”

Only in his junior year, Sherl has played the game of basketball since he was in the first grade. Now a guard for the high school team, Sherl said he continues to work on his game to help his team win.

“My strengths are mid-range shots and my defense,” Sherl said. “Before games I usually listen to music and just try to visualize the shots I’m going to be taking.”

As a team, the Zebras are off to a good start and Sherl said he loves competing with his teammates.

“I’m impressed with Teegan Mann because he always stays positive and keeps everyone together,” Sherl said. “Braden keeps everyone laughing and he always has high energy and keeps everyone laughing. Teegan or Tytus Eubanks are probably the most serious because they know what it takes to be good and they want us to get there. I love how energetic they are and how we always support each other. I don’t play any other sports.”

Sherl said he’s made many great memories with his teammates at CHS.
“My favorite memory isn’t necessarily just one memory, it’s the home games at Claremore, there’s a certain energy and intensity about playing in front of your hometown,” Sherl said. “It’s a great place to be a student-athlete because the community supports the school and athletic programs.” When his playing days at CHS come to an end, Sherl plans to attend college and work towards becoming a basketball coach.
