Despite not having huge numbers, the Lady Ridgerunners have several wrestlers who come to compete every night. Head coach Benjamin Steffenson said the team may not have big numbers, but they do have the competitive streak it takes to be successful.
“We will be a little shorthanded this year with only six girls filling out our lineup. Three freshmen, one sophomore, one junior, and one senior. What we don’t have in numbers our girls make up for in being strong competitors. We are expecting them to have a lot of success this year. They are all dependable and will show up and work every single day, so the sky is the limit to what they will be able to accomplish this wrestling season,” coach Steffenson said.
Keep an eye on Ashlyn Taylor, a senior with tremendous experience and the drive to find her way to the state tournament. Coach Steffenson believes she has what it takes.
“She has come up short at the last few regional tournaments, but every time she steps on the mat she has a chance to win it. She is a strong wrestler with a good foundation and has the potential to have very successful senior year,” coach Steffenson said.
