Grove’s Samantha Bacon
Grove High School’s Samantha Bacon started playing golf two years ago. When she was younger, her father would bring her along when he went golfing. Something must’ve stuck, and eventually she picked up the sport herself.
The love of the game isn’t the only thing passed down to Bacon. Her parents have also been an example of good work ethic over the years.
“I am motivated to do my best my parents who have always taught me to work hard for what I want. “My biggest role model overall is my dad. He has shown me that through hard work and dedication I can achieve my goals.”
Bacon’s favorite moment to look back on so far is when she placed second at conference last year. She hopes to continue her success on the green this year as she stays focused not on her opponents, but on being the best she can be.
“I wouldn’t necessarily say that I have a favorite opponent to play against,” she said. “I go into every round trying to beat my own previous score.”
Bacon may not have a favorite opponent, but she does have a favorite course to play that comes to mind.
“My favorite course to play is definitely Shangri-La because it is beautiful and challenging,” she said.
