Miami’s Dillon Blundell – Wrestling Spotlight – Presented by Jim Rexwinkle, State Farm

Miami’s Dillon Blundell

Playing multiple sports for Miami High School, Dillon Blundell is poised for a great season on the mat. With football season behind him and track season approaching, Blundell is focused on wrestling and making it back to the state tournament.

The senior started wrestling when he was in the fifth grade. That laid the foundation for a love of being on the mat and competing with his teammates. This season, Blundell will wrestle at 165-pounds for the Wardogs.

“I have focused on just being a better wrestler in general I haven’t really focused on one thing,” said Blundell.

A state qualifier in his sophomore season, Blundell said he has continued to work hard to improve in areas where his coaches want improvement. For Blundell, being on the mat is exactly where he wants to be.

“I just go out there and wrestle like I’m in a fight,” Blundell said. “What I love the most about MHS are the coaches and the environment.”

As for the team, Blundell said he has some great teammates to compete with.

“I’ve been impressed with a lot of my teammates winning a lot of matches this year and stepping up when it mattered and practicing harder,” Blundell said. “The teammate who keeps everyone laughing is definitely Levi Sumpang and the most serious is Hayden Miller.” Blundell’s future plans include having a family and enjoying a good life. For now, the senior is focused on wrestling before he takes to the track this spring.
