Oaks Mission rolls into the 2026 season off a strong 9-3 campaign and will feature an intriguing mix of experienced starters and a young class pushing for time. Head coach Isaiah Irvin, entering his second year in the program, likes the balance of veterans with two or more years of varsity starting experience and newcomers ready to compete. With that combination, the Oaks expect to maintain their winning standard while developing depth across the roster. The staff believes this team’s athleticism and toughness can keep it in the conversation in every district matchup.
Offensively, Oaks Mission returns four starters and will be led by junior quarterback/cornerback Vincent Vue (5-9, 170), who threw for 250 yards and four touchdowns last season. Junior fullback/linebacker Nathan Russell (5-9, 210) brings power to the run game after rushing for 350 yards and three scores, and he will also be a key piece in short-yardage and red-zone situations. The Oaks’ philosophy is to use multiple athletes with varsity experience to stay balanced and efficient, leaning on Vue’s arm and Russell’s physicality. With that duo and a young group around them, Oaks Mission will look to build on last year’s offensive success.
On defense, Oaks also bring back four starters and will base out of a 3-3 stack that emphasizes playing physical and smart. Junior corner Keania Gadsden (5-9, 160) headlines the secondary after recording 52 tackles, eight pass breakups and an interception, giving Oaks a reliable cover man who is active in run support. Russell returns at linebacker after posting 74 tackles, eight tackles for loss and three sacks, providing toughness and production in the middle of the defense. Irvin wants his defense to swarm to the football, limit explosive plays and rely on its core of returning starters to guide a younger supporting cast. Russell is the program’s Top 100 nominee and is viewed as a consistent, hard-working leader who impacts the game on both sides of the ball. His ability to run the football, anchor the defense at linebacker and set the tone in the locker room will be central to Oaks Mission’s hopes of another big season.
