Q&A with Fairland’s Colt Kinsey

VYPE: What goals do you have for this year in basketball? 

Colt Kinsey: My goal is to make it to the state playoffs this year.

VYPE: What has basketball taught you that you use in your daily life? 

CK: Basketball has taught me to do everything 100 percent all the time.

VYPE: What’s your favorite style of shoe to wear in game?

CK: My favorite shoes to wear in a game are Kobe’s.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

CK: My Grandpa Doyle Kinsey inspires me because he has always taken time to take me to the gym to rebound or whatever I need in life. My Papa Ross is also an important inspiration to me because of his support to be at all my games, and has always been there for me.

VYPE: What do you think is the biggest challenge in basketball?

CK: The biggest challenge in basketball is to remain mentally strong.

VYPE: What do you think makes a great basketball player?

CK: A basketball player must be coachable to be great.

VYPE: Who in your family is the best athlete? Explain.

CK: The best athlete in my family was either my grandpa or dad. My grandpa was an all-state basketball player, and my dad played college baseball and was drafted.

VYPE: What’s one sport you wish you could play that you don’t already play?

CK: I wish I could play golf. I love playing it on the weekends and would like to play it in school too.
 

VYPE: What’s your go-to pregame song?

CK: I don’t have a pregame song. My pregame is talking to my teammates before each game.
