Q&A With Grove’s Jaxyn Berryman – Softball Spotlight – Presented by Mark Lee, Shelter Insurance

Jaxyn Berryman – Grove HS

VYPE: Jaxyn, what grade are you in this year and what do you love most about your teammates at Grove HS?

Jaxyn Berryman: I am a sophomore. What I love about my teammates most is how hard we work together and getting to experience our success in the little moments on the field, together.

VYPE: When was your first year playing softball and what was the name of the team?

JB: My first year playing softball was 4th grade. I was new to Grove and got placed on the Lil Ridgey’s league team where I met lots of my current friends and teammates and their families!

VYPE: Who inspires you?

JB: A person who inspires me is my mom. She is always pushing me to work hard and give my absolute best at everything I do. She goes above and beyond to be at all my games and activities.

VYPE: What are the expectations for this season?

JB: To make it to the state tournament is our team goal. We plan to set the standard for ourselves and the classes behind us: Lady Red softball is always a state contender!

VYPE: What is your favorite subject in school and who is your favorite teacher?

JB: My favorite subject in school has always been math because it makes the most sense to me. The teacher I connect with the most, on the other hand, was my 9th grade English teacher, Mrs. Pollan.

VYPE: What position are your playing this season?

JB: According to Coach Collins, I play right-third, lol. This season I have been switching back and forth between outfield and 3rd base.

VYPE: What other activities are you involved in at school?

JB: I am a member of Character Counts, Math Club, Heritage Club, Basketball, Cheer, Stunt, and soccer.

VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

JB: In my free time, I am very social – love hanging with friends, playing pickleball and adventuring any way I can. I prefer to be moving all the time!

VYPE: What would you like to do after you graduate?

JB: After I graduate, I plan to attend college and hopefully play a sport of my choice!
