Grove’s Rowan Geer

Being a multi-sport athlete for Grove High School keeps Rowan Geer busy. She is a junior who runs cross country and track, but she has a special love for basketball. Rowan took the time to answer questions about herself and her sport.
VYPE: What do you love most about the position you play?
Rowan Geer: In basketball I play small forward. I love the versatility of being able to play any spot on the floor.
VYPE: What has basketball taught you that you use in your daily life?
RG: Basketball has taught me teamwork that I can carry to the classroom and outside of school. Working together is a big part of life that I have learned through playing.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
RG: Being on a team has built lasting friendships and memories that I will always remember.
“ ”VYPE:Why are you passionate about your sport?
RG: I am passionate about basketball because I love the sport and it means a lot to me. I take pride in what I do on the court and how I can set a good example.
VYPE:Who inspires you and why?
RG: My parents inspire me. Their example of hard work is something I will always look up to.
VYPE:When and how did you first get into playing your sport?
RG: My dad has always been a coach, so I have been going to the gym as early as three years old. I have loved the sport ever since.
VYPE:What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?
RG: My favorite part of representing my high school as an athlete is being able to be a part of something bigger. I love being able to set an example for future Lady Ridgerunner basketball players.
VYPE:What has been your favorite memory and/or accomplishment of playing?
RG: My favorite memory of playing basketball is playing with my sister for two years. We have so many great memories of playing together.
VYPE:What would you like to do after high school?
RG: I would like to continue to play basketball in college after I graduate high school.
