OUTLOOK
Despite coming off a season with only six wins, the Wildcats of Quapaw High School are eager and ready to take the court and prove this group is better than the six-win season from a year ago.
Head coach Rod Graves said the team has focus and they are working hard to prepare themselves for the long and challenging season ahead.
“We had good turnout for summer league. I really like our players and our effort. They’re a good group to coach,” said coach Graves.
Two returning starters will help lead the Wildcats this season. Jace Gregory (5-11, Jr.) will start at guard giving the team someone who can score from the outside and create his own shots. Gregory has good ball movement and understands the game.
“ ”Another starter making his return is Gunner Parker (5-7, Sr.) at point guard. Parker is quick with excellent ball-handling skills. He can find the open man and he plays salty defense. Together, Gregory and Parker are the two keys to this team getting the ship steered in the right direction.
Coach Graves said the team is coming together and should continue to improve as younger players with less experience are on the court more competing for wins.
“I would like more time on the floor with them to get everything in offensively and defensively, but we’ll learn as we go,” said coach Graves.
Quapaw will travel to some familiar tournaments this season which includes road trips to Welch, Depew, and the NEO tournament.
