Verdigris’ Bella Floyd – Soccer Spotlight – Presented by Backwoods Chiropractic

Verdigris’ Bella Floyd

Senior center back Bella Floyd is ready to take the field and give everything she has in her final season of prep soccer. The feel is always different as a senior.

“I look forward to spending my last high school season with a team that feels like family. I also look forward to seeing how the team plays together this year,” said Floyd.

Entering the season, Floyd wanted to use her strengths to help the team win this season.

“My biggest strength is that I am aggressive on defense, and I have been working on my offense in hopes of helping the team offensively this year,” Floyd said. “I mentally prepare myself for games by listening to music to calm myself before going out and playing.”

A leader turns the focus to their teammates and Floyd does exactly that when talking about the upcoming season.

“Our best-kept secret this season is our strong underclassmen and a change in our formation this year,” Floyd said. “A teammate that has impressed me this last year and upcoming year is senior Gabby Estep, she was put in goal last year and has done so well and has continued to improve. Goalies are the hardest-working players on the field.”

Floyd and her teammates are all business, but they do know how to have a good time.

“Mackenzie Trisler always knows how to make a good time out of hard practices, and I would say that everyone on the team gets pretty serious when it comes to games but there is not a single player that gets more serious than everyone else. When I leave VHS I want to be remembered as a good friend and teammate,” said Floyd.

As her time at VHS begins to come to an end, Floyd said she would like to thank her family and coaches for their help through the years.

“I would like to shout out to my mom and dad. They have been my biggest supporters and have always believed in me even when it was hard to believe in myself. All the club coaches, Coach Risenhoover and Coach T for pushing me to be the athlete I am today. Most importantly our Lord and Savior for allowing me these opportunities.”
