Q&A with Bartlesville Tennis Player Abby Shelley – Presented by Keller Williams Bartlesville

VYPE: Abby, what grade are you in and what sport are you playing at BHS? 

Abby Shelley: I’m a junior and I play singles tennis. 

VYPE: What accomplishment or memory are you most proud of?

AS: An accomplishment that I am most proud of is finishing runner-up at state my sophomore year and pushing the eventual state champion to a 3rd set.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that makes you a better person?

AS: My sport has taught me self-discipline and mental toughness.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?

AS: Julie Anderson, my high school math teacher, because she has pushed me to be a better student both in and out of school.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

AS: My sister, Maddie Shelley. She has been my biggest leader and role model on the tennis court.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

AS: Jack Ihrig, he has shown a lot of dedication this season and has improved tremendously.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?

AS: Being a part of a team and the atmosphere. I love the girls I play with and the food.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

AS: “Play free, live in the moment. Give it your best no matter the outcome.”
