2024 Copan Football Preview – Presented by Welch State Bank

COPAN HORNETS

Coach: MARSHALL FOREMAN

5-6

OFFENSE

For the past two years, Copan has been best described as a young football team. “Now, all those kids have experience,” fourth-year head coach Marshall Foreman said. “So looking to take a big jump this year. We have high expectations.” Quarterback Kane Foreman (6-3, 225, Jr.) threw for over 1,700 passing yards last year with 28 touchdowns and only four interceptions last year. “Kane is a natural leader, and you can see that on the field,” Foreman said. The Hornets will run multiple sets out of the pistol and will aim for balance but won’t hesitate to put the ball in the hands of playmakers like Weston O’Rourke (5-10, 170, Jr.), who rushed for over 1,200 yards scored 18 times last year. “Weston is a very explosive playmaker that is hard to tackle,” Foreman said. Do-it-all back Teegan Caron (6-0, 180, Jr.) wasn’t far behind rushing for nine touchdowns and catching seven. Karson Woodworth (6-0, 165, Sr.) returns after he caught 43 passes for 603 yards and nine touchdowns last year. Shooter Brewington found the end zone seven times this year and is an impressive option for the Hornets.

DEFENSE

“We like to run an aggressive 4-2 and get everyone flying to the ball,” Foreman said. Brewington was a menace at the linebacker position last year registering 127 tackles and will play alongside Teegan Caron, who was responsible for 80. O’Rourke, Jarrett Shambles (6-0, 155, Sr.) and Karson Woodworth (6-0, 165, Sr.) return to Copan’s secondary after combining for 239 tackles and two interceptions last year. Up front, it will be on players like Levi Vanschuyver (6-3, 185, Sr.) to defend the pass and halt the run. The defensive end recorded 69 tackles as a junior.
