Jeyton Brown

Ketchum High School

By Trina Walker

Becoming a softball player was a natural choice for Jeyton Brown. Her dad was her first coach when she began playing as a six-year-old. Now a freshman at Ketchum High School, Jeyton pitches and plays second base.

Softball has taught her to work hard and never give up. Jeyton is passionate about pitching. She puts in extra effort to continue building her skills. Becoming a pitcher on her team is something she worked and trained for. This is the accomplishment of which she is most proud.

Friendships with teammates follow on and off the field. Jeyton’s favorite part of being on the KHS softball team is the time spent with her friends. Teammates like Hannah Banker leave a big impression. “Hannah is at every single high school practice and is involved with everyone. She is always willing to help people out,” said Jeyton.

Jordy Bahl, who pitches for Nebraska, is the athlete Jeyton looks up to. Bahl has been recognized with multiple collegiate awards for her skill pitching. She showed her determination to succeed by fighting back from injury. “She is a pitcher, and she is good at it,” said Jeyton.

The person who most inspires her is her first coach, Dad. “My dad inspires me because he is always putting time and effort into helping me,” she said.

Jeyton is proud to represent KHS as a student-athlete. From teachers to coaches, she credits their support for helping her achieve goals in the classroom and on the field. Her favorite teacher, Mrs. Spielmann, is awesome and funny. Coach Brown is always working hard to be the best coach.

Jeyton says her favorite meal is steak and the vacation she most wants to take is a trip to Wyoming with her friend Josie Bogle.

In addition to playing softball, she is a member of Ketchum FFA.
