Kyler Howe has excelled on the softball field while playing for Jay High School. With multiple college offers to consider, she is a senior to watch this season.
The accomplishments she looks back on most proudly include getting on base 11 times out of 11 opportunities against Vinita and earning the honor of playing on the Athletic Jendro National Team. These experiences on the softball field have taught her to be a leader and put in the work.
Representing JHS as an athlete is a role Kyler takes seriously. She believes it is important for student-athletes to be someone the younger kids can look up to.
Kyler’s favorite part about being on a team is building connections and friendships with people. “It’s given me a family, and life skills, it’s something I can always rely on,” she said.
The teammate who made a big impression on Kyler is Faith Lemmonds. “I played travel ball with her, and during that time she has brought me closer to God and has helped me better myself,” she said. Developing a strong relationship with God led her to the best advice. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.”
The professional athlete she looks up to is Sis Bates, who now plays for Athletes Unlimited. “I’ve been watching her since I was little, and she was playing shortstop for Washington.”
Kyler started playing when she was four and her dad was the coach. To this day her parents are her biggest inspirations. “My mom and my dad are my biggest fans and supporters. They work so hard at their jobs and still make time for me,” says Kyler.
She plays center field, shortstop, and catcher in softball and is in basketball, track, and cross country. Kyler holds office inmultiple organizations. She is the KHS Student Council secretary, Junior Class secretary, and Drama Club vice president. She is also active in Science Club, Art Club, Mu Alpha Theta, FCS, and yearbook.
