Ashtyn Glass – Jay High School

After a good summer, the Lady Bulldogs are entering the new season with hope and optimism. Head coach Terry Sweeney said the team has a good mix or experience and youth.

“We will be a team that has some experience back but also combined with some inexperience that will be learning to play hard, play together and to compete at a high level. Our players were impressive at times this summer, we have good athletes that can play. I’m really excited to see what this season brings, we have the potential, we just have to put it all together and anything is possible,” said Sweeney.

Kayla Greer (5-7, Jr.) is a combo guard leading this way this season. Greer averaged 3.3 points last year and is expected to see that number increase. Greer can get to the rim thanks to her speed and ball handling skills. Ashtyn Glass (5-5, Jr.) is a returning starter that can handle the ball, make plays and a good three-point shooter. With her athleticism and good anticipation, she will create havoc on defense. Zoee Robertson (5-9, So.) could earn a spot in the starting line up with hard work. She has height, plays long, and has a knack for the game. Robertson plays good team defense and is a good rebounder.

Kyler Howe (5-7, Sr.) is a quick and fast player who can attack the basket and shoot the three-point shot. Howe plays an aggressive defensive style. Wesley Beaty (5-8, Jr.) will play inside where she brings aggression and physicality that every team needs. Also look for Kaydee Buzzard (5-6, Jr.) at shooting guard. Buzzard has worked on her game, skill development, shooting, running and in the weight room getting stronger. She will be a challenge to compete against.

Other players to watch include Jovy Ward (5-9, So.), Harlan Blackfox (5-6, Fr.), Nashe’ Downing (5-8, Fr.), Ryeigh Driskell (5-6, Sr.), Amary Davis (5-6, So.), and Keely Welch (5-10, Sr.).
