SEQUOYAH CLAREMORE LADY EAGLES
Coach: Lee Ott
OUTLOOK
The Lady Eagles are poised for a good year on the court as head coach Lee Ott returns the nucleus of team with several players who bring experience and leadership to the floor.
“We have five returning starters with four being seniors,” said coach Ott.
Matison “Mati” Kruis (5-11, Sr.) is back at forward where she is the statistical leader in scoring, rebounding, and blocked shots. Kruis is everything you want in a post player and more. Kruis has signed to play soccer for Pitt State in Kansas next fall. Kruis will lead the team in several stat categories but will not need to do it all alone. Expect to see Cylie Bronson (Sr.) have a big year as well. Bronson is a returning All-Conference player who brings athleticism and a tenacious focus on both ends of the court.
“ ”Landry Roland (Sr.) is a two-year starter at guard and will give the Lady Eagles someone who can score, move without the ball, and play salty defense. One player everyone is hopeful they will see on the court this season is Ali Park (5-11, Sr.). Park was injured during volleyball season and her status for basketball is questionable.
Other players to watch this season include Lainey Thompson (5-8, So.) at guard, Lexis Breshears (5-7, So.) and a pair of freshmen in Laylie Schiesel (5-6, Fr.) at guard and Peyton Breshears (5-10, Fr.) at forward.
One player everyone is cheering for this year is Ava Springer (So.). Springer is battling a health issue but has a lot of fight in her and has become the emotional leader of the team.
