Jay High School junior Ashtyn Glass is a member of the varsity softball team and someone who loves being on the field.
Glass started playing softball when she was eight years old. During her time on the field, Glass said she has made many great memories with her teammates.
“My favorite memory would have to be when I hit a grand slam,” said Glass.
But it’s her teammates that make all of the sacrifices worth it.
“ ”“One thing that made JHS great this season was the bond I had with all my teammates, and how close I got with everyone,” Glass said. “One teammate that for sure stood out was Zariah kingfisher, because even though she was only a freshman I think that she really stepped up in the outfield and made some really great plays.”
The different personalities stand out, and every team needs someone to keep things interesting.
“I honestly don’t think that there was just one player who made everyone laugh, I think that we would normally just feed off of each other’s energy. One player on our team that takes the game the most serious would be Kyler, she has a great work ethic and wants to win, but she also encourages her teammates along the way,” said Glass.
On the field, Glass said she has continued to work hard to help JHS win and to reach her goal of playing at the next level.
“One of my biggest strengths is definitely my defense and my speed, but the main thing I improved was my hitting,” Glass said. “After high school I want to be able to go and play at the next level.”
Glass plays basketball for JHS when she’s not on the diamond. Her passion for both sports is obvious when you talk to the junior.
