Dual season witnessed the Lady Bulldogs of Jay High School picking up five wins to just one lose. Head coach David Gilstrap said the team has worked hard to get to where they are today.
“The Jay HS girls’ team are 5-1 in duals this season. Their lone loss coming to nationally ranked Bixby. Four seniors lead the team. Angela Lee placed 3rd at state last season and reached 100 career wins this season. Kenadee Thomas was a regional champion last season and reached 100 career wins this season,” coach Gilstrap said. “Addie Dingsor, a state qualifier was the Bring the Hammer Tournament Champion this season and Heather Alexander has a 9-7 record this season.”
The Bring the Hammer wrestling tournament in Cabot, Arkansas also witnessed Angela Lee place 2nd at 100-pounds and Jacelyn Lopez place 4th at 110-pounds.
In more recent tournaments, the Lady Bulldogs have made tremendous showings including a second-place finish as a team at the Port City Classic in Catoosa.
“ ”Lee was the top 100-pounder with Kenadee Thomas (115) and Iliana Salazar (155) also taking the top podium spot in their respective weight classes. Three other wrestlers were runner-up placers. Addie Dingsor (130), Khloe Murray (145), and Heather Alexander (170) all grab 2nd place finishes.
Not to be left out, Jocelyn Lopez placed 3rd at 105-pounds and Kiara Warren placed 5th at 120-pounds.
During the Doug Rial Memorial Women’s Tournament, as a team Jay finished 3rd overall and sent eight wrestlers to the podium.
Lee continued her winning ways taking top honors at 100-pounds with Lopez doing the same at 105. Salazar grabbed a first-place finish as well at 155-pounds. Other wrestlers placing the Doug Rial include Keegan Cooper (3rd, 100), Kenadee Thomas (2nd, 115), Kiara Warren (4th, 120), Kalynn Burton (4th, 125), and Addie Dingsor (2nd, 130).
The Lady Bulldog wrestling team consists of Heather Alexander (Sr.), Kalynn Burton, Lillie Clark (Jr.), Keegan Cooper-Lee (So.), Nacye Dick (Jr.), Addi Dingsor (Sr.), Angela Lee (Sr.), Jocelynn Lopez (So.), Khloe Murray (Fr.), Iliana Salazar (So.), Kenadee Thomas (Sr.), and Kiara Warren (So.).
