Miami’s David Snider – Track Spotlight – Presented by Welch State Bank

Miami’s David Snider

Athletes find inspiration in many things. Watching other athletes compete at a high level or listening to motivational speakers opine about the discipline it takes to be a winner. Inspiration can also come from a source close to the athlete, such as a family member. For Miami High School senior David Snider, that person is at home.

“Who inspires me is my father. My dad to me is the epitome of hard work. All he does for me and for our family out of love and I see all the hard work he does. He’s someone who’s always pushed me to be my best and is one of the greatest supporters I could’ve ever asked for,” said Snider.

This spring Snider is competing in track. A sport he has competed in for five years. A thrower, Snider said he loves competing with his teammates and representing MHS.

“I compete in shotput and discus,” Snider said. “What I love most about my team is how hard we all work together and what I love about my teammates is how we all push each other to do our best. As an individual I want to qualify for state and get on the podium for both shotput and discus. As a team I want all of us to qualify and be able to go to state.”

One day soon, his prep days will come to an end. Snider said he is looking forward to life after high school.
“My goals after high school are to go to college for throwing and throw professionally,” said Snider.

Away from school, Snider said he enjoys watching movies with his family and spending time with his friends. Snider sent one last shoutout to a friend before signing off. “I want to shoutout my best buddy Khol Lynch, he’s a beast on the football field and an awesome guy,” said Snider.
