The rush and excitement felt on the field is what Sutton Williams loves most about football. His passion for the game came naturally as his dad was a former college football player. “Growing up, all I knew was football. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do.” Now a senior at Bartlesville High School, Sutton is ready to follow in his dad’s footsteps.
Sutton’s late mother was his biggest supporter. He is dedicated to a promise made to her. “She once made me promise that I would go play college ball for her so I’m working to keep that promise for her,” he says. “That’s the goal and I’m ready to chase it.”
A former coach told him that nothing matters if you don’t put your all into it. “I think that goes for anything you do in life. There’s no point in trying if you are not gonna sacrifice yourself for it.” He also learned the value of focusing on the main goal. “All other things are just distractions to pull you away from where you want to go,” says Sutton.

“Being able to put our school on the map and representing our team every game for all of the fans that love to come watch us play,” he says, is the best part about representing his school.
He recalls the teammate who left the biggest impression. “When I moved to Bartlesville my sophomore year, Brett Eaves was the first person I met and kind of took me under his wing and showed me how everything ran at Bartlesville. He was also one of the smartest people on the field I’ve seen play.”
“My dad is who inspires me the most because he has been through more hardships and struggles than anyone I know but he still finds a way to be there for whatever I need or want. He will drop anything for me and my siblings and he has shown me how to be a better athlete and person.
“I just wanna say thank you to my dad first off. You’ve shown me everything and more of how to live my life as an athlete and a teenager. Also, I wanna say thank you to my brother and sister for being there for me and my late mother, who told me to always keep going.”
Off the field, he recharges with music. “I love listening to music. It is one of my favorite things to do and that’s mostly what I do every day,” says Sutton.
