Bartlesville’s Ellie Benson

As the season presses forward, the varsity volleyball team at Bartlesville High School is ranked No. 10 in Class 6A and looking to finish the regular season on high note.

Ellie Benson is an outside hitter for the team and is competing in her final year of prep volleyball. Benson said she loves this group and loves representing BHS.

“I love how connected everyone on our team is. With nine seniors, we’ve all played with each other for a long time and have good chemistry,” said Benson.

Expectations are growing and for the senior, going out with a great season is something she pushes herself and her teammates to accomplish.

“My expectations for the season is that we have a lot of talent with nine seniors and should be successful because of it,” said Benson.

Benson said each teammate brings a quality all their own to the court.

“The most vocal teammate on my team is our libero, Sophie Frye. The teammate that always keeps us laughing is our middle, Aisley Keirsey,” said Benson.

Also a member of National Honor Society and the medicine and biosciences program at the local tech college where she competes in HOSA, Benson said she has her favorites in the classroom, but her source of inspiration only comes from one person.

“My subject is science, but my favorite teacher was Mrs. Cone from sophomore year English. She was always incredibly engaging and helpful,” Benson said. “My mom is the person who inspires me the most. She’s the most hardworking and strong person I know, and I hope you be just like her someday.”

Benson said she enjoys painting and spending time with friends and family. After graduation she plans to attend college.
