Q&A with Dewey’s Izzy Perry
VYPE: Izzy, what grade are you in and what do you love most about your teammates at Dewey HS?
Izzy Perry: I am a senior this year. What I love most about my team and teammates is that both the boys and girls support each other during our races. They are all super supportive and encouraging and that makes the meets more fun!
VYPE: What grade did you first start competing in cross country?
IP: I first started competing my freshman year.
VYPE: Who inspires you?
IP: My mom inspires me the most because she has shown me that even through the hardest patches in your life it is always possible to bounce back. She’s shows me that even your biggest struggles don’t define your life or who you are as a person.
VYPE: What are your expectations for the season?
IP: My expectations for my last year of cross country is to get better times. I want to encourage the underclassmen and the new middle school team to try their hardest and to finish the season knowing we all tried our best.
VYPE: What is your favorite subject in school, and do you have a favorite teacher?
IP: My favorite subject in school is Science, and my favorite teacher is my cross country coach, Coach Knight (aka the GOAT).
VYPE: Do you have a favorite course or place to run?
IP: I don’t have a specific favorite place, but my favorite races are the ones with nice views, so the race isn’t so boring.
VYPE: What other activities are you involved in at school?
IP: I am a member of NHS, I’m the cheer captain, I run track, and I’m also a student at tech in the Med and Bio program.
VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
IP: In my free time I enjoy hanging out with my family, growing my relationship with Christ, playing on my phone, and hanging out with my friends.
VYPE: What would you like to do after you graduate?
IP: After I graduate, I plan to go to college and get my Nursing degree. I want to be a Pediatric Oncology Nurse.
