Wesleyan Christian’s Ashley Reich

Ashley Reich has been playing volleyball since she was in the 5th grade. Now as a senior Reich plays as Wesleyan Christian’s setter, the team’s primary offensive coordinator, responsible for communication, quick-decision making, and a deep understanding of the game. Beyond the technical skills, her position demands strong leadership, adaptability, and unbreakable poise.
“The one goal I have set for myself this season is to take on the leadership role and help my teammates achieve the unthinkable,” says Reich.
Volleyball at Wesleyan has become a second family for Reich, who transferred to the team her junior year.
“When I came to WCS my junior year, my team and coaches were very welcoming and supported me in everything I did. Little did I know they would become my best friends who I can always count on,” she reflects. “My team is very supportive and pushes each other to do hard things.”
What Ashley loves most about the sport is its team dynamic.
“I love meeting new teammates and helping them become the best players they can be,” she says.
Her experience at WCS has shaped her into a leader who prioritizes the team over herself.
Reich has navigated challenges with grace, including being asked to play new positions on the court. Through it all, she keeps her focus on the bigger picture.
“Even without much practice, I would push through by mentally preparing myself so I wouldn’t let my team down,” she says.
She believes resilience, determination and commitment are the pillars of success and that talent alone can only carry you so far. She hopes to instill the same philosophy in younger players and encourages them to keep pushing.
“Don’t give up just because it’s hard,” explains Reich. “Keep practicing, because that is the only way you will succeed.”
After graduation, Reich plans to continue playing volleyball at Oklahoma Wesleyan University while pursuing a degree in elementary education.
Reich approaches challenges with a “keep going” attitude, believing that effort and practice lead to improvement. Her mindset reflects optimism and persistence, showing that hard work is the undeniable key to success.
